Fincantieri is reviewing its 2023–2027 industrial plan in response to the ongoing expansion of the European defense sector.

By balancing both civil and military operations, Fincantieri will significantly increase its defense – related activities at its Palermo and Castellammare di Stabia sites, with a sharper focus on military production.

Consequently, this transition will lead to a redistribution of workload across Fincantieri’s international production network, primarily affecting operations in Romania.

There, a substantial portion of cruise ship construction will be shifted to Fincantieri’s 2 major shipyards operated through its subsidiary Vard.

Together, they employ around 5,000 direct workers, with an additional 3,000 subcontractors. (Sergio Scialabba)
