Lights on the Knots: Investigation Reveals Sausage Links

Lendlease, the Australian real estate giant active in Milan, is mentioned in the decree of inspection alongside Coima, EuroMilano, Hines, and other property groups.

Its name appears in connection with the urban redevelopment initiative Nodi e Porte Metropolitane Milano 2050, suspected of having benefited from undue favors and patronage from the municipal administration.

In light of the unfolding investigation, the project now resembles a tangle of sausage links (nodi di salsiccia) far more than a coherent network of city knots (nodi metropolitani).

While no arrest warrants have been issued against Lendlease executives so far, the company remains within the broader investigative framework.

This means it is indirectly involved in projects currently under scrutiny.

Should the so-called Milan model of urban transformation ultimately collapse under legal or political pressure, Lendlease’s role may undergo a significant shift – even in the absence of direct judicial repercussions. (Sergio Scialabba)
