Corriere Fiorentino reported on a case involving a 13-year-old boy who was struck by an escort motorcycle of the President of the Republic on via Morgagni 7 years ago.
The boy suffered a fractured femur as a result of the accident. Initially, a fine was issued to the boy for allegedly crossing the street against a red light, based on the decision of the State’s Attorney Office.
However, the Court later ruled that there was no justification for the escort to disregard normal traffic rules and speed in an urban area.
Consequently, the boy will be compensated with 60000 euros by the State, and the fine issued by the State’s Attorney will be cancelled.
This case highlights the importance of accountability and adherence to traffic regulations, even for official escorts, to ensure the safety of all individuals on the road.
It also underscores the role of the judicial system in rectifying decisions and providing justice to those affected by such incidents. The case indeed sheds light on the unique role of the State’s Attorney. (Sergio Scialabba)
