As part of a recent investigation into alleged rigged contracts and corruption in Sicily, the defense of former governor Salvatore Cuffaro formally submitted a written statement to contest the charges.
During questioning before the Judge for Preliminary Investigations (GIP) on November 14, 2025, Cuffaro exercised his right to remain silent but made spontaneous declarations and filed the defense document.
Cuffaro has long political experience, having served for several years as President of Sicily.
