Broad Political Support for Nuclear Power

“A nuclear and renewable energy mix costs 800 billion euros less over 60 years than the renewables-only scenario.

The average lifespan of a nuclear power plant is much longer, while the cycle of renewables is much shorter.

Let’s think about it: 800 billion euros less over 60 years is 13 billion euros less per year,” said Carlo Calenda to Corriere della Sera, expressing his support for nuclear power.

Calenda added, “Elly Schlein must realize that half of her party is in favor of nuclear power“.

Gianfranco Borghini, brother of the former mayor of Milan Giampiero and known for his left-wing orientation, a member of the Italian Communist Party, has held various positions within the party. His support for nuclear power confirms Calenda’s point.

Interestingly, Calenda sent a proposal to the mayor of Milan, Giuseppe Sala, for a meeting to compare energy feasibility scenarios: only renewables or with the nuclear mix. (Redazione)
