A Sicilian in the Anas Scheme

A scheme seems to emerge from a recent criminal investigation concerning administrative offenses and the awarding of contracts in Anas. Once again, the key-figure is Denis Verdini, a university professor originally from Lunigiana, a banker and former parliamentarian, and the inspirer of the Patto del Nazareno.

Angelo Ciccotto, a building contractor from Sicily, is one of the individuals noticed in this investigation. In 2018, he was intercepted by the Carabinieri while meeting with politicians and members of what is referred to as the Sicilian mafia.

He might be a link between broader Italian interests and more localized interests in Sicily. However, as always everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. (Redazione)
