A Bitter New Year’s Eve in 2004

It was a bitter New Year’s Eve in 2004 for Silvio Berlusconi. In fact, a man hit him with the tripod of his camera.

The then prime minister – at the height of his popularity – was in one of the most scenic squares in the capital, Piazza Navona. He was walking among the people, shaking hands and wishing them well for the end of the year holidays, when, shortly after 7 pm, he was hit by the camera tripod thrown at him by the bricklayer.

He was immediately blocked by the forces of order, arrested and transferred to Regina Coeli. (Redazione)
