Becoming aware of the history of Sicily through the news is now as simple as a click.
This is made possible by consulting the Archivio storico digitale of the newspaper La Sicilia, which was presented in 2016 and named in honor of Professor Giuseppe Giarrizzo, a prominent opinionist of the newspaper known for his tolerant and open vision.
The archive brings over a million pages of the newspaper online, encompassing more than 6 million articles and about 3 million photographs. It spans from its inaugural publication, which dates back to March 15, 1945, all the way to the present day (70 years).
Despite only leading the press in Southern Italy for a short time, La Sicilia has left a significant mark due to its liberal founding spirit. This comprehensive system allows users to reconstruct the history of the island, its local communities, and individuals from the post-war era to the present day. (Redazione)
