2026 Or Not, Milan Is Not the Same Old Story

Milan is not the same old story. So, it is forecasted that discussions about the new mayor of Milan will intensify in the coming year.

As is known, the elections are scheduled for the end of the current mayor’s double term.

Therefore, the first point of discussion involves the regulation of the election date.

Given that the current mayor was reelected in October 2021, which falls in the second half of 2021, and considering that the elections are to be held in the first half of 2027, there may be differing views on whether his mandate officially ends in 2026 or 2027.

The primary reference for this is Legge 7 giugno 1991, n. 182.

Regardless, Milan remains a strategic city in terms of economics and culture, and its Municipality serves as a model in many respects for local administration, both in terms of function and methodology.

Consequently, the manner in which political parties and civil society approach the upcoming era is already being viewed with great interest and curiosity, whether the year turns out to be 2026 or not. (Sergio Scialabba)
